Cabinet Refinishing

Professional Prep. Professional Products. Long-Lasting Results.

Cabinet refinishing is one of the most impactful ways to transform your kitchen or bathroom without the cost and disruption of a full remodel. However, the process and products used matter just as much as the final color.

At Full Circle Painting, we specialize in professional cabinet refinishing built around proper preparation, high-performance coatings, and controlled application, not shortcuts.

Cabinet Refinishing Done the Right Way

Many cabinet painting failures happen not years later, but within months, due to improper prep or the wrong products. Our system is designed to prevent those issues before they start.

Paint vs. Professional Two-Step Cabinet Coatings

Not all “cabinet paint” is the same.

Standard Paint (What Many Contractors Use)

Traditional paint is typically:

  • Single-component (no hardener)

  • Softer when cured

  • More prone to chipping, scratching, and wear

  • Often designed for walls, not cabinets

While it may look good at first, standard paint can break down quickly in high-use areas like cabinet doors, edges, and around hardware.

Two-Step Cabinet Coatings (Our Preferred System)

We use professional cabinet coatings — including two-component systems like EVO — that require a hardener to be added before application.

This creates a chemical cure, not just a dry surface.

Benefits include:

  • A significantly harder, more durable finish

  • Stronger adhesion to cabinet surfaces

  • Improved resistance to chipping, scratching, and wear

  • Better performance in kitchens and bathrooms

  • Longer lifespan compared to standard paint

This is the same type of finish technology used where durability matters most.

What Products do We Use on Cabinets?

We select products based on performance, not convenience.

  • EVO – Two-step cabinet coating with hardener for maximum durability

  • Command – Fast-curing, extremely tough finish ideal for high-use cabinets

  • Eclipse – Professional cabinet coating known for smooth, consistent finishes

These products cure harder than traditional paint and are specifically designed for cabinet and trim applications, not walls.

Proper Cabinet Prep Makes All the Difference

Most cabinet failures are caused by poor preparation, not bad paint.

Incorrect Prep (Common Shortcuts)

  • Light scuff sanding only

  • No degreasing

  • Skipping proper primer

  • Using wall paint on cabinets

  • Spraying doors in uncontrolled environments

This often leads to peeling, chipping, uneven texture, and yellowing over time.

Our Professional Cabinet Prep Process

1. Deep Cleaning & Degreasing

All cabinet surfaces are thoroughly cleaned to remove grease, oils, and residue so coatings can properly bond.

2. Thorough Sanding

Cabinets are sanded to remove factory sheen and create proper adhesion. Edges, profiles, and high-wear areas receive extra attention.

3. BIN Primer for Raw or Unprimed Cabinets

For raw wood or cabinets that have never been primed, we use BIN shellac-based primer to:

  • Seal raw wood completely

  • Block tannins and stains

  • Prevent yellowing and bleed-through

  • Create a stable foundation for topcoats

This step is essential for long-term cabinet refinishing success.

Cabinet Refinishing FAQs

  • Most projects take 10–15 working days, depending on size and condition. We will be in the home generally for about 3-5 working days depending on scope of work. Then the cabinet doors will come back to our stop to get completed. The doors will generally take 5-7 working days at our shop for prep, finish application, and curing time before they are reinstalled in the home.

  • No. We use full containment and ventilation to protect your space. Although if you have anyone in the home that is pregnant or sensitive to smells we do recommend that you leave the home for the part of the project where we are in the home spraying.

  • Not when properly prepped, primed, and finished with professional coatings. No product will be indestructible to wear and tear from being in the home, but with the Full Circle Painting process you will not have paint related failures.
